How Can We Help You?

Are varifocal (progressive) lenses suitable for flying?

Yes, varifocal lenses are suitable for flying. In recent years varifocal (progressive) lens technology has advanced at an incredible pace. Our lenses have big ‘sweet spots’ and smooth transition between them which make them ideal for flying. Although other options exist, varifocals are becoming pretty much the only game in town.

In the past varifocals weren’t very versatile and a lot of head turning was required in order to focus, even with regular varifocal spectacles. Until fairly recently the prospect of producing accurate prescriptions for wrapped sunlenses would have been out of the question – it was just too complicated – but now thanks to the sophisticated digital lens design and HD digital freeform finishing lab machinery we use, these complex varifocals are available.

Wrapped varifocals are a tool and you need to learn how to use them. At first, they will feel different to your regular varifocal spectacles but, for the vast majority of people, they will soon feel very natural.

In order to make it work for you in the best way possible, have a look at our prescription sections to learn as much as possible and please feel free to call us if you’d like to know more: +44(0)1622844030

Some opticians like to know about the environment in which you’ll be using your prescription sunglasses. To help you set the scene, there is a a form inside the trial prescription pack we send you, so that you can put them in the picture when you go for your eye test. (Unless, of course, you already have an up to date prescription.)
