Can lens tints enhance performance?

Yes, some sunlenses incorporate a lot of technology and filter light in clever ways which can enhance the wearers visual experience. Studies have shown that this can improve performance. In order to demonstrate a performance improvement, the user has to be good enough to measure a consistent baseline performance.

In other words, if you’re rubbish, you’re unlikely to turn into an ace, but if you’re pretty good you should be able to detect an improvement.

Unfortunately, most sunglasses don’t have any real technology and most manufacturers are guided by fashion when choosing tints, rather than science.
